Running Club

WHEN: April / May​

Volunteers Needed: 20 (each session) 1-3 (coordinators)

TASKS: Compile roster, communicate to families each session, ensure proper safety techniques are followed, plan activities for each day, communicate all activity plans and instruction to volunteers each session.

WHAT: An after school club running twice a week for four weeks that encourages kids to get moving with games and running for fun.

We had a great 2018 season! Thank you to all students who participated. Sign-ups for 2019 will begin in the spring. Stay tuned!

When: The Running Club meets six Fridays throughout April and May. If you have an urgent need or question during Running Club you can contact Jill or Katie at the numbers provided in the email at the start of the term.

Where: After school your student should go to the cafeteria. They will meet their coaches, eat snack, use the bathroom and head outside. We will warm up our bodies with some short games, head out into the neighborhood to run (for 25-30 minutes) and return to Chelsea to cool down and go to the gym for dismissal at 4:30 p.m. We ask that you come into the gym to pick up your student each week.

Weather: We will be running outside rain or shine. If there is severe weather we will move activities inside. Please dress your student appropriately for the weather.

Medical: Does your child have any food restrictions or other allergies? If your child has an epi pen or other necessary medication please coordinate with the school nurse or teacher to make sure we have access to that med after school if needed. The nurse will NOT be on site and the nurse's office will be locked during running club hours.

Transportation
: There is no transportation provided for running club. Make sure your student knows how they are getting home every day. If you will be more than 5 minutes late, please call the coaches on the numbers they provided to let them kow. Please be considerate of all of our volunteers' needs to get home as well.  

What to bring?: (1) Send a note to your student's teacher letting them know your student should go to running club after school; (2) send a water bottle that is clearly labeled (if you don't have a water bottle we can provide cups); and (3) make sure your student has layers that are appropriate for the weather and sturdy running shoes each week.

The last week off running club will be a Color Run. More details to come!
